Throughout history, the people of Kurdistan have never been a people who sought war. On the contrary, they have consistently aspired to peace and coexistence with others. Whenever war has been imposed upon them, it has been solely in defense of themselves and the protection of their legitimate rights. This principle remains unwavering and stems from the deeply rooted belief, rich cultural heritage, and long-standing tradition of peace and coexistence that define the people of Kurdistan.
It is deeply regrettable that our region today is witnessing significant tensions and conflict. Both now and in the past, our constant hope has been that all disputes and challenges would be resolved through peaceful means, because war has always brought nothing but destruction, devastation, and suffering.
In this context, it is particularly alarming that certain groups and actors, under the name of “resistance” and through unfounded slogans and pretexts, have permitted themselves to attack civilian areas, economic infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region, as well as Peshmerga bases and positions. Such actions represent clear warmongering and constitute a blatant violation of the rights of citizens, as well as a direct assault on the stability and security of the Kurdistan Region.
It must be clearly understood by all parties that even restraint has its limits. The Peshmerga have never accepted injustice or aggression from any side, and they will not do so in the future. These acts of provocation and attempts to undermine the stability of the Kurdistan Region and the safety of its citizens cannot and must not continue.
For this reason, we call upon the Government of Iraq, the Iraqi Council of Representatives, and the political forces of the country—particularly the Coordination Framework—to take serious responsibility and establish clear limits to these violations and aggressions. The continuation of such reckless escalation will inevitably lead to dangerous and undesirable consequences.
At the same time, while expressing our deepest sympathy and solidarity with the families and relatives of those dear individuals who lost their lives as a result of these unjust attacks, we also reassure the beloved people of Kurdistan that we will continue, with all our capabilities and determination, to ensure that Kurdistan remains protected from war and tragedy. Our efforts will remain focused on safeguarding peace, stability, and the well-being of our people.
In the end, success and dignity shall belong to the people of Kurdistan.
