Message from President Barzani

In the name of God, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful,

I strongly condemn the attack carried out at dawn today, in which Iranian missiles struck the headquarters of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces. With deep sorrow, I note that as a result of this attack a number of heroic Peshmerga were martyred and others were wounded. I extend my condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs of this unjust attack and share in their grief, and I wish the wounded a swift recovery.

This hostile attack is unjustifiable and cannot be accepted under any pretext. This is yet another instance of such attacks being carried out against the Kurdistan Region, in open violation of the principles of good‑neighbourly relations and international law. This comes at a time when the Kurdistan Region has not been a party to the ongoing war in the region and has never posed any threat to its neighbours.

The Peshmerga are the most precious and valuable asset of our people.
