During the meeting, the KDP delegation briefed H.E. the Minister on the latest political and security developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider Middle East. Both sides exchanged views on regional dynamics, current challenges, and matters of mutual interest, while emphasizing the importance of dialogue, stability, and cooperation.
The delegation expressed its sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Croatia for their valuable support during the war against ISIS. Croatia, as a member of the international coalition, provided military and humanitarian assistance at a critical time, contributing to the collective efforts to defeat terrorism and support stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of further strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of Croatia, particularly in the fields of economic cooperation, investment, trade, business exchange, education, and people-to-people relations. The delegation underlined the readiness of the Kurdistan Region to work closely with Croatian institutions and the private sector to explore new opportunities that serve the shared interests of both sides.
H.E. Minister Grlić-Radman expressed interest in further exploring avenues of cooperation and indicated that consultations would be held with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Baghdad regarding the possibility and feasibility of opening a Croatian office in Erbil.
The KDP delegation is currently in Zagreb to participate in the International Democracy Union (IDU) Forum, which brings together political leaders, officials, diplomats, and policy experts from around the world to discuss current international challenges and opportunities for cooperation.
