President Barzani Receives Mr. Ali Al-Zaidi and the Accompanying Coordination Framework Delegation

Today, Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Pirmam, President Masoud Barzani received Mr. Ali Al-Zaidi, the Prime Minister-designate tasked with forming the federal government, along with an accompanying delegation from the Coordination Framework.

During the meeting, both sides stressed the need to expedite the formation of the federal government in accordance with electoral entitlements and within the constitutional timeframe.

President Barzani addressed recent developments and underscored the importance of resolving the outstanding issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government in accordance with the constitution. He noted that adherence to and implementation of the constitution represent the best path toward a solution, and called on all parties to uphold it in order to achieve stability.

For his part, Mr. Ali Al-Zaidi, the Prime Minister-designate for the formation of the Iraqi federal government, affirmed the importance of addressing the shortcomings of the past and opening a new chapter in relations between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
