Statement of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Parliamentary bloc in the Iraqi Council of Representatives on the Resumption of Its Parliamentary Work and Activities

Guided by the national trust placed in us by our people, the Kurdistan Democratic Party Parliamentary bloc has consistently regarded its political positions within the legislative and oversight processes as a means of defending the constitutional rights of all Iraqi citizens, including the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan, and of strengthening the foundations of genuine partnership in the governance of the state.

Accordingly, we announce that, in light of the positive understandings reached among the political forces—particularly following the visit of the Prime Minister-designate and the high-level delegation of the Coordination Framework to the Kurdistan Region, and their discussions with the political leadership of our party, as well as the continuation of these efforts through the visit of the KDP negotiating delegation to Baghdad aimed at reaching a comprehensive solution—our bloc has decided to resume its parliamentary duties and activities in the Council of Representatives.

This decision reflects our legal and national responsibility to closely monitor, from within parliament, the implementation of the agreements and understandings related to securing constitutional, legal, and financial rights. At the same time, we reaffirm that we will remain steadfast in defending and securing the full legitimate rights of all Iraqi citizens, including the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan.
