The meeting was also attended by Mr Arman Topçu, Consul General of Türkiye in Erbil. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the latest developments, conflicts, and tensions in the region. Ambassador İnan expressed Türkiye’s appreciation for the Kurdistan Region’s restraint and prudent policy, noting that despite attempts to draw the Region into conflict, as well as continued violations and bombardments targeting it, the Kurdistan Region has made every effort to remain outside the wars and tensions unfolding in the region.
The meeting also addressed the situation following the formation of the Iraqi government, relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, and relations between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and Iraqi political parties. Both sides expressed hope that efforts would advance toward resolving outstanding issues, strengthening coordination across various fields, and removing existing obstacles.
Discussions further focused on relations among federal Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Türkiye, including the outcomes of the Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister’s recent visit to Türkiye. In this regard, both sides emphasized the importance of further developing relations and strengthening friendship between the two sides.
The internal situation in the Kurdistan Region and steps aimed at reviving the political process were also discussed during the meeting.
