PKK presence in Sinjar concerns European Union

Hoshyar Siwaily received Ms. Clarisse Pasztory, Head of European Union Liaison Mission in Kurdistan. In the meeting Mr. Siwaily conveyed the gratitude of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Leadership for the assistance that was provided to the people of Kurdistan throughout the fight against ISIS.

The first topic of the meeting was the referendum in Kurdistan and the importance of dialogue with Baghdad to agree on a mutual understanding  throughout the process. Further, keeping the safe image that Kurdistan has built was important. She also commended the victories of Peshmerga against ISIS.

Sinjar was another subject of the meeting and both sides condemned the presence of the PKK. It was agreed upon that the recent airstrikes in the area that led to the death of five Peshmerga was the direct cause of PKK presence. Ms. Pasztory emphasized the European Union is thriving towards keeping the peace and stability in the Region and the importance of discussion to resolve differences peacefully.
