Egypt respects the will and freedom of people to self determination

Mr. Hoshyar Siwaily, Head of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), hosted Mr. Omar Fahmy, Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Kurdistan Region.

At the start  of the meeting Mr. Fahmy congratulated Mr. Siwaily on his new appointment as the Head of KDP- FRO. Mr. Siwaily thanked the sentiments and relations between the two sides and exchanged common interests, values and vision.

Mr. Siwaily emphasized that the Kurdistan Region enjoys a great deal of safety and security. The advances the Region made over terrorism is an important prove of that. He also urged Egyptian investors to take the stability aspect of the Region into account while they search to find a safe place to invest.

For his part, Mr. Fahmy expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and praised the relations between the two parties and hoped to find ways to reinforce common interests, combating violence and extremism, establishing security and stability for the Egyptian and Kurdish communities; as well as strengthening economic relations and investments between Egypt and the Kurdistan Region. Mr. Omar Fahmy went on to say that the Arab Republic of Egypt is with the unity of Iraq but also respects the freedom and wish of the people.
