Iraqi Kurdistan at a crossroads
Under the above title the University of Kurdistan Hawler (UKH) organized a two days conference to discuss the current issues of Domestic and Middle Eastern Politics and their dynamics on the forthcoming referendum in Kurdistan. Hoshyar Siwialy accompanied by a delegation from the Foreign Relations Office attended the conference.
The extensive and detailed program of the conference covered the planned referendum in Kurdistan in different political and legal perspectives. The KRG's prime Minister who is also the UKH's Chancellor delivered an important speech in which he shed light on the current internal and external challenges and the irreversible decision to organize the referendum this year.
A number of distinguished and well-informed speakers took part in the five different panels of the conference and their presentations covered the issue of referendum in terms of its legality, international recognition, the neighboring countries' position and the global power's strategy towards Iraq and Kurdistan. The speakers included Dr Tom Grant, Professor Michael Gunter, Dr Jegr Hussein, Dr. Ray Griffiths, Dr Francis Owtram, Dr David Romano, Dr John Holland and many more experts on the issues under discussion.
