The Head of Foreign Relations Office, Hoshyar Siwaily meet with a delegation from Italy who is on a short visit to Kurdistan Region. The delegation, in addition to the Consul General of Italyl Ms. Serena Muron and Senator Roberto Cociancich, member in the commission for EU policies and member in the commission for consititutional affair. Senator Giuseppe Romanini President of the Italian Interparliamentary Group for Friendship with the Kurdish People. Senator Mauro del Barba, Don Vincenzo Federico Head of Caritas fro Campania Region, Professor Aldo Morrone, Sara Lucroni e PierLugi Giorgia, and Mr Soran Ahmed Secretary Genral of the international Insitute of Kurdish Culture in Rome.

During the meeting, the Head of the Foreign Relations Office thanked the government and people of Italy for their support in our war against ISIS. Moreover, he shed light on the current issues in Kurdistan including the ongoing fight against ISIS, in which our Peshmerga played a leading role, and the Region’s economic recession. The Kurdistan Region’s strained relations with Baghdad, the IDPs and relations between the political parties and the suspension of Parliament’s sessions were among the topics discussed. Many remarks were made by the delegation on the subject of the Referendum. The Head of the Foreign Relations Office Reassured the delegation that the KDP has made every effort to establish cross party committees to handle all the political and technical aspects the process. He also outlined the Party’s strategy for independence and emphasized that process will be conducted through dialogue and peaceful means. Both sides realised that there will be a great opportunity for the Italian companies and business community in the near future to participate in the development of this secure and stable Region.
