A delegation from KDP-FRO visits the  Consulate General of Japan In Erbil

 

A delegation representing the KDP-FRO headed by Hoshyar Siwaily paid a visit to the Consulate General of Japan and met with Mr Katsumi Moriyasu, the Consul General. The Head of KDP-FRO thanked the Consul General and the Government of Japan for their continuous support to the Kurdistan Regional Government and the people of Kurdistan. The bilateral relations between both governments began more than a decade ago through financial assistance to Kurdistan to develop its infrastructure. During the ISIS offensive and the exodus of refugees and IDPs to Kurdistan Region, the humanitarian intervention of the Government of Japan played a positive role in assisting these venerable people.

The preparations for the Referendum and the issues discussed at the latest meeting of the High Committee for Referendum and Independence were brought to the attention of the Consul General. On his part he outlined the position of his government and stated that while they are with the unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, they are fully understanding the aspiration of the Kurdistan People for independent statehood  

Both sides exchanged views on the forthcoming visit of a KDP-FRO delegation to Japan to attend the Mayors for Peace Conference in Nagasaki which is going to be held on 7-10, August. The Head of KDP-FRO showed his willingness to meet government and political party officials while they are in Japan. The Consul General promised to do his best to make arrangements for these meeting in Tokyo.
