KDP Delegation at the United Nations in New York as guest of SI to gain international support.
A delegation from the Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office (KDP-FRO) consisting of Mr. Hikmet Bamerni Head of KDP’s branch in north America and Ms. Silav Ibrahim, Ms. Zozan Berwari member of KDP-FRO participated as guests in the Meeting of the Council of the Socialist International (SI) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The Meeting was opened by the President of the SI, George A. Papandreou, the Secretary-General, Luis Ayala, and Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations. The first session of the meeting was Strengthening Multilateralism for Peace, in which a member of the KDP Delegation, Ms. Silav Ibrahim presented a speech and asked the organization and attendances to support upcoming independence referendum in Kurdistan region of Iraq. In addition, side meetings were held with various delegations upon their request and expressed great support for the people of Kurdistan and their determined strive towards independence, the delegation will hold further meetings to gain support for the process of referendum.
