The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Nechirvan Barzani, has reiterated that Erbil has always been against aggression and violent actions with Baghdad, and the recent tensions could have been prevented with talks.
The Iraqi government should have tried peaceful dialogue with the Kurdistan Region to resolve the disputes between them before resorting to military offensives, the Kurdish official said.
Barzani made the remarks in his meeting with outgoing British Ambassador Frank Baker in Erbil on Tuesday. He also called on the British diplomat to encourage his government help Erbil and Baghdad address their differences peacefully.
The Kurdish PM ensured that Erbil has alway been ready to resume dialogue with Baghdad.
He also sought greater international mediation between the conflicting sids.
Baker vowed his country’s engagement in preparing the ground for talks within the framework of constitution.
