Prime Minister Barzani and U.S. Ambassador meet

The meeting was also attended by Kurdistan Regional Government Deputy Prime Minister, Qubad Talabani.

Ambassador Silliman extended condolences to Prime Minister Barzani on the passing of his brother, Mr. Dilovan Idris Barzani.

He discussed regional developments in general, the upcoming elections and the improvement of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi federal government. He also expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in the talks between the two sides, aiming to settle the outstanding issues.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked Mr. Silliman for the U.S. support to the current dialogue between Kurdistan Region and Iraqi federal government.

They also discussed the threats associated with the possible return of ISIS, and consequently of violence. Both sides agreed on the need for better coordination among all parties in order to prevent re-emergence of violence and security concerns.
