President Barzani receives U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and his accompanying delegation

The President of the Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, receives Mr Steve Bekroft, the new U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, in Salahadin, along with his accompanying delegation.

At the meeting, they discussed the current Iraqi situation and the relations between Iraq and America, as well as relations between the Kurdistan Region and America

President Barzani congratulated the ambassador on his new duty in Iraq and announced that the Kurdistan Region will support and cooperate with the ambassador.

At the request of Mr Bekroft, President Barzani explained the functions of the two political and government Kurdistan Region delegations to Baghdad and hoped to continue talks with Iraqi political parties to find a solution to the political crisis experienced by the country.

During the meeting they discussed the status of Kirkuk and how to deal with the situation. The U.S. ambassador said any decision on the status of Kirkuk should be by agreement of the parties and announced the readiness of the embassy for any help
