His Excellency President Massoud Barzani received Bruno Aubert the French ambassador in Iraq

In a meeting, which was attended by Dominique Mass, the French Consul General in Erbil, the French Ambassador conveyed the greetings of the French President and Foreign Minister to President Barzani, congratulating him on the victory of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the last month elections for the Iraqi Council of Representatives and wishing the active participation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and Kurdistan Region in the Iraqi political process based on the constitution, the respect of Iraqis for the aspirations and desires of the people of Kurdistan. He also referred to the active and decisive role of President Barzani in the future of the political process in Iraq, expressing his country's readiness to play an assisting role in the future of Iraq and the reconstruction of Kurdistan.

For his part, President Barzani thanked the position of the President of the Republic, the people and the Government of France towards the people of Kurdistan, describing position as a predictable one of a people with a civilization and human values. President Barzani, Stressing that the people of Kurdistan at all stages consider themselves a friend of the French people and are appreciative of their stand.

On the post-election phase in Iraq and the participation of the Kurdish parties in the political process, President Barzani stressed that the observance and implementation of the three principles embodied in partnership and consensus and balance in the political, administrative, economic and security issues are the main priorities for the Kurds, and that the rest of the details in the political process should be guided by these three principles.

In another part of the meeting, concerns were raised about the resurgence of terrorism in Iraq. The two sides agreed to maintain communication and consultation on developments and the political process in Iraq.
