President Masoud Barzani received the US president's special envoy to the international coalition against ISIS

At the meeting, President Barzani stressed the need to forge a broad multilateral alliance on the basis of partnership, consensus and balance, and to define the mechanisms and time limits for the implementation of those three principles and the formation of a new government so as to avoid repetition of past mistakes and to reach a genuine partnership, in order to all the Iraqi constituents feel that they are partners in the political process.

On 9/7/2018 in Salahadeen, President Masoud Barzani received Brett McGurk, the Special Envoy of the President of the United States for the international coalition against ISIS and his accompanied delegation, composed of the US ambassador to Iraq, Douglas Silliman and Ken Gross the US Consul General in Erbil.

At the meeting, views were exchanged on the latest political developments in the region, the situation in Syria and concerns about the future of the Kurdish people in Syria. The US president's special envoy to the international coalition against ISIS also presented his country's policy on the regional and international developments and the political and security situation in Syria.

In another focus of the meeting, the political situation in Iraq was discussed after the elections and efforts to form the new government.
