The Statement by the International Federation of the Kurdish Diaspora to the Kurdish National Leader Masoud Barzani

His Excellency President Masoud Barzani,

The Participants of the Conference listened to your message with great passion. Excellency, please accept our highest thanks and appreciation for the great attention you paying to the Kurds of the former Soviet countries. We feel honored to see you sustaining the tasks of your father, the heroic Kurdish leader General Mustafa Barzani who lived 12 years in the former Soviet Union, and had big impact on the life and culture of Kurdish Diaspora here, up to date, the Kurdish families here name their newly born boys the names like MUSTAFA or BARZANI naming them after the late Mustafa Barzani.

It is very painful to mention that huge number of Kurds facing oppression and suppression of the enemies of our Nation on the land of our ancestors and many of them were forced to leave their homeland and spread all over the world, amongst were the Kurds who came to the Soviet Union, sadly to say, the policies of oppression and expulsion against our Nation are still being practiced.

As a result of the bitter history, today we have got widespread Kurdish Diaspora all over the world. According to estimations, today we have around 10 Millions of the Kurdish Diaspora living outside. Those Kurdish communities abroad have established their own Kurdish Bodies and Associations representing all parts of Kurdistan, regardless of their various Kurdish religious beliefs.

The Kurds living abroad have great appreciations for the Foreign governments and Nations harbored our people to live and fully integrated them in their own Nations and communities, at the same time enabled them to preserve and show their own national Culture and activities and promote their own identity. One of the biggest Kurdish Diaspora in the world is the one lived in the former soviet countries who preserved their identity, protect and promote the history, culture and language of Kurds. It is interesting to say that The Kurds in the Soviet Countries are very proud of your struggle and resistance to set a strong Foundation for the legitimate rights of Kurds to independence and a free life.

The way you taking responsibilities and performing activities are widely seen and appreciated, you have proved that you are the Leader of Millions of Kurds, we are proud and highly appreciate your perform as a struggler who fight for Peace, Democracy and the Freedom of his people. Your works and achievements reminding us of the strugglers and characters like (Charles Diego, Nelson Mandela, Castro, etc..) who dedicated themselves for the Freedom of their Nations.

The Kurdish Diaspora has great potential in the world and in different fields, Social, Political, economic, Scientific and Cultural, in this Conference we discussed the mechanism of protecting the Kurdish Identity among the Kurdish communities, how to strengthen the relations among those communities, the formation of a unified Association for organization and joint work among ourselves.

This Kurdish Diaspora Association will be built on bases of Kurdishness (Kurdayati), a principle which late Mustafa Barzani  was the first to raise and adapt it.  These principles are our reference to make decisions and recommendations. Excellency, your Support and  encouragement  are very critical for us and it gives us a lot of energy and morale, also it helps to sustain and strengthen our performance and keep us unified to implement the decisions and recommendations made in this Conference.

We believe that a strong Kurdish Diaspora can better serve the Kurdish National objectives and show it to the international community. Also it can have a better impact on the domestic atmosphere of Kurdistan too and could be an extra enlightenment for the Unity of our people everywhere.

Your Excellency Mr.President,

In the conference, the participants discussed the issue of a special establishment to be formed within KRG, to be specialized to the Kurdish Diaspora, there are many similar establishments in many foreign governments like of (Russia, Armenia, Israel, Kazakhstan and many others). We are sure that a joint work between KRG and the Kurdish Diaspora will have benefits for both sides and will serve the principle of Independence of Kurdistan, we hope you support this suggestion.

We keenly follow up the developments in Kurdistan, we feel proud for the achievements and feel sad for any failure. We were passionately following up your steps and performance in the implementation process of the Independence referendum, we did our best in supporting that historic process, for the first time in history, the Kurds could express their own will and showed it to the world. A century lasted will for Independence and freedom.

The September 25th ,2017 independence referendum conducted under the supervision and Leadership of your excellency would be written with a letter of gold in our Kurdish National history, that is why we suggest to take this day as ( Union Day) for the people of Kurdistan.

Excellency Masoud Barzani,

Today our Nation needs Unity more than ever, we see your excellency as the Character to take this responsibility, you can unify a Nation of 50 Millions people and bring them close to each other, the Kurdish Diaspora definitely support you in that endeavor.

We wish you long life and good health, wish you all success in your mission to take Kurdistan and the Kurdish Nation forward.
