President Barzani receives Brett McGurk and his accompanying delegation

Today, 20 August 2018, President Barzani received Brett McGurk, the US President’s Special Envoy to International Coalition against ISIS and his accompanying delegation comprising Douglas Silliman, the US Ambassador to Iraq and Steve Fagin, the US Consul General to Kurdistan Region. During the meeting views were exchanged on the latest political developments in the Region and operational issues of the war against ISIS in Syria and Western Iraq. In another part of the meeting lights were shed on the latest attempts to from the new Iraqi Government and the new equations in the political process in Iraq. In relation to the formation of the new Iraqi government, President Barzani made it clear that what is a priority for the parties in Kurdistan is the commitment by the Iraqi parties to the principle of a genuine partnership in ruling the country and the provision of guarantees and clear mechanisms for the implementation of this partnership and the agreements.
