President Masoud Barzani, today, 29 August 2018, received a telephone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

During the telephone conversation in which the political situation in Iraq was discussed, the US Secretary of State valued the role of President Masoud Barzani in the political process in Iraq after the election of the House of Representatives, describing that role as important. The two sides also exchanged views on the latest political developments and the ongoing negotiations between the political parties on the formation of the new government in Iraq while the formation of the new government as soon as possible was also highlighted.

In the same telephone call, President Barzani and Mike Pompeo confirmed the importance of continued communications and consultations between the two sides.
