Nechirvan Barzani, Vice-President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, on Wednesday reiterated the desire of the two main parties in the Kurdistan Region to engage all sides and the opposition in Kurdistan in a joint delegation that will go to Baghdad to negotiate the formation of the next Federal Government. "It is essential and to preserve the gains of the people of Kurdistan that there should be a common understanding among all the Kurdistan parties when negotiating with Baghdad, and efforts must be made in this respect," said Nechirvan Barzani at a joint press conference with the Secretary-General of the Islamic Union of Kurdistan Salahadeen Bahadeen in Erbil. He stressed that the meetings would continue with the other opposition parties.
Nechirvan Barzani added that they would be very happy to go to Baghdad and have a unified stance, stressing that unity was very important in Baghdad. On the parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region, Barzani said he had not formally received any request for postponing the election and it would be held on its scheduled date.
The Secretary-General of the Islamic Union of Kurdistan said during the conference that they talked about the unity of the Kurdish ranks in Baghdad and re- organizing the Kurdish house internally. He added that their visions were unified in this area and that the deliberations during the meeting were important. He also said that he hoped all the Kurdistan parties would go with one team to Baghdad.
