President Barzani highlighted the historical role of women in the different stages of the process of liberation movement in Kurdistan, particularly during the Revolutions of September and Gullan. He also highlighted the role of women of Kurdistan in raising devoted patriots to defend the rights, land and dignity of Kurdistan. He stressed the need to honour sacrifices and determination to be looked on as leading example for all.
Acknowledging the struggle of women and development of their circumstances and recognising the need to further assist Peshmerga, displaced and disgruntled people was extensively covered in the meeting. President Barzani emphasised the need for extra efforts for recognition of Kurdistan Women Union, stressing his support for the Union, and called for intensifying efforts to eliminate discrimination, impairment and exploitation of women.
President Barzani also cited the current political situation in Iraq and Kurdistan he also explained his position on the political process in Iraq. On the upcoming election of the Kurdistan Parliament, he reiterated that there are no reasons to postpone them, stressing that the postponement would be a violation of the law, undermine the institutions of the Region and an infringement and unjust to the will of the people and the citizens of Kurdistan, calling for its timely completion.
