Readout of Chancellor Masrour Barzani’s meeting with Major General Patrick Roberson of Operation Inherent Resolve

Chancellor Masrour Barzani received U.S. Major General Patrick Roberson of Operation Inherent Resolve to discuss the anti-ISIL campaign in Iraq and Syria, as well as recent regional military developments. During the meeting, Major General Roberson briefed Chancellor Barzani on the final phase of the campaign in Eastern Syria and continued efforts to disrupt ISIL activities in Iraq.

On Syria, both officials placed importance on the recent, reinvigorated U.S. diplomatic engagement, and exchanged views on how to build meaningful trust between Kurdish political factions. Finally, they expressed concern over Iran’s missile attack in Koya earlier this week.
