Chancellor Masrour Barzan’s meeting with Iraq’s new Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mohammed al-Halbousi

Chancellor Masrour Barzani received today Iraq’s new elected Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mohammed al-Halbousi and discussed, among other things, ongoing negotiations to elect a President and form a representative government.

Chancellor Barzani congratulated al-Halbousi and emphasized the need to work in partnership with other political factions on legislation that can give each community a stake in the country’s future. During the meeting, both agreed on the importance of restoring balance in the country’s institutions in a way that reflects the makeup of Iraq and restores trust between communities.
