His Excellency President Masoud Barzani released a statement on the Kurdistan Democratic Party selection of a candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Iraq,

In the name of Allah the Merciful and the compassionate

On the selection of the Kurdistan Democratic Party candidate for the post of the President of the Republic of Iraq, we wanted to nominate a candidate that most Kurdish Political parties would agree upon and become the Kurdish candidate for the position, but unfortunately that did not happen.

 

In order to resolve the issue, after discussion with the Kurdistan Democratic Party Political Bureau, they authorized me to nominate a candidate for the post of president of the republic. Therefore, for his good potential, his ability and experiences I nominate Dr. Fuad Hussein for the post.

 

Dr. Fouad Hussain has proved his capability and integrity during the liberation movement and the September Revolution and his position as the chief of staff of the Kurdistan Regional presidency, and I am convinced that he will perform his duties to the fullest, and will benefit the people of Kurdistan and Iraq and carries his responsibilities during his tenure.

 

We support Dr. Fuad Hussein with all our capabilities and wish him success.
