President Barzani Meets with Brett McGurk

Salahadin, Kurdistan Region- President Masoud Barzani received a United States government delegation headed by Brett McGurk, the Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL.

The delegation also included Douglas Silliman, the US ambassador to Iraq. During the meeting, President Barzani and Mr. McGurk spoke of a number of current political issues in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, particularly the process of the formation of the new Iraqi government and the recent parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region.

 

Both sides exchanged views on the formation of the new cabinet in Baghdad. The U.S. delegation also commended the Kurdistan Region for conducting the successful parliamentary elections last Sunday and congratulated the President for the victory of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
