Kurdistan Region Security Council Chancellor Masrour Barzani meets with UN SRSG to Iraq

Chancellor Masrour Barzani received today UN SRSG Jan Kubis and discussed political developments and negotiations to form a new government in Iraq.

In the meeting, Chancellor Barzani said a principle agreement based on genuine partnership would give KRG and the Federal Government the political will necessary to settle the ongoing disputes and translate Kurdistan Region’s duties under the Constitution into rights. On recent parliamentary elections in Kurdistan Region, SRSG Kubis and Chancellor Barzani agreed on the importance for the Electoral Commission to address complaints through a timely, credible and transparent process. During the meeting, both also discussed Kurdish political differences and regional developments.
