The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani meets with US Deputy Secretary of State

Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, received Mr. John Sullivan, US Deputy Secretary of State, and a high-level US delegation that included General Magee Fadel, Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Steve Faggin, US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region and a number of US diplomatic and military officials.

 

During a meeting between the two sides, Mr. Sullivan offered his congratulations to Mr. Nechirvan Barzani on the success of the process of the parliamentary elections of Kurdistan and victory over the terrorist Organization ISIS.  Deputy Secretary of State confirmed the support of the United States of America for the Kurdistan Region, and called for the continuation of dialogue between Erbil - Baghdad to resolve problems and security and economic cooperation. He also highlighted the latest developments in Iraq and expressed the hope that all Iraqi leaders to work to form the new Iraqi government so that it could to assume its duties on time and in accordance with the Iraqi constitution.

For his part, the Prime Minister thanked US Deputy Secretary for his visit to the Kurdistan Region, and presented a brief account on the political process in Iraq and the participation of the Kurdistan Region as well as the political process in the Kurdistan Region and the elections of the Parliament of Kurdistan.
