President Masoud Barzani received in Salahadeen, on 15 October 2018, a friend of the Kurdish people; the Turkish intellectual and historian, Ismail Beshkchi.

At the beginning of the meeting Mr Beshkchi described the victory of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's list in the elections of the Kurdistan Parliament and last May’s elections as important and meaningful. He also referred to the referendum of the people of Kurdistan, stressing that the victory of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in these two electoral processes is a proof that President Barzani possesses a just cause of the people of Kurdistan. For his part, President Barzani praised Ismail Beshkchi’s positions on the just cause of the people of Kurdistan, expressing his thanks and appreciation for his valuable efforts, activities and writings supporting the people of Kurdistan. He also said that Mr Beshkchi was a symbol and a source of pride for all, and his view towards the people of Kurdistan deserved the utmost attention. In his remarks, President Barzani highlighted the referendum and the events of October 16th and the victory of Kurdistan Democratic Party in the elections of the Iraqi Parliament and the Parliament of Kurdistan, stressing that the people of Kurdistan have rewarded the Kurdistan Democratic Party because of its patriotic position and its resolute defence of Kurdistan rights, adding that, Kurdistan Democratic Party won because it defended the rights and the will of the People of Kurdistan.
