Nechirvan Barzani in a statement strongly condemned the terrorist attack against Coptic Christians in Minya region in Egypt.

He stated, “Continuing ISIS terrorist acts place important responsibility on the international community to further intensify efforts and increase coordination in order to defeat and erradicate terrorism.”

Below is the text of Prime Minister Barzani's message:

We strongly condemn the terrorist attack on a bus in Egypt’s Minya region on Friday that killed a number of Coptic Christins and injured several others.

We extend our condolences to the families of the victims, the people and government of Egypt, and wish prompt recovery of the wounded.

ISIS claiming responsibility for the attack demonstrates that militarily defeating terrorism and reclaiming territory is insufficient. Continuing ISIS terrorist acts place important responsibility on the international community to further intensify efforts and increase coordination in order to defeat and erradicate terrorism.
