President Barzani Receives a United States Government Delegation

President Masoud Barzani received a United States government delegation headed by Brett McGurk, the Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Mr. McGurk's delegation included the U.S. ambassador to Iraq and a number of other Department of State personnel.

President Barzani and Mr. McGurk spoke of the latest political developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, specifically the process of the completion of the government formation in Baghdad. The two also spoke of President Barzani's latest visit to Baghdad last month and how the new Iraqi government can begin a new chapter of relations between Baghdad and Erbil.
