President Masoud Barzani issued a statement on the latest developments in Syria

In the name of God the Most gracious the most Merciful

Recent events and developments in Syria, especially the situation of the Kurdish people, are a matter of concern.

We have also announced our observations and concerns previously in regard to the future of the Kurdish people in Syria and the situation in Rojava, which it should not have reached this current stage.

Continuous impairment to the Kurds in Syria is due to the fact that a significant number of Kurds are currently living as refugees. ISIS attacks, the difficult political situation and other threats in previous years, while the war against ISIS still ongoing.

We hope that recent events and developments will not lead to increased violence and  additional fighting, citizens and the Kurdish people of Syria will be spared more suffering and tragedies.
