Dr Mussaibaah Younis, Senior Adviser at the European Institute of Peace (EIP) visit Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office.

The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office Hoshyar Siwaily received Dr Mussaibaah Younis, Senior Adviser at the European Institute of Peace (EIP). At the meeting discussed were mainly about KDP’s views on the process of the IDPs return and the obstacles hindering the process.

We stated that two obvious steps need to be taken by the Iraqi Federal Government and the International Community which will lead to speeding up the process of IDP and refugees to go back to the home. First-solving the security issues by protecting the returnees from non official militia and  Hashd Al Shaebi and second- resolve the cause of rising ISIS. The way of doing this is the normalization of the situation and the return of Peshmerga to the disputed areas and forming joint units with the Iraqi Army to protect these areas.

These areas that ruined by the war needs to be reconstructed by the Iraqi government with the help of  the International Community, without outside help Iraq will not be able to deal with the crisis and reconstruction. Other crucial issue was discussed the ISIS families who live in camps is a worldwide problem and there is a need for a wide and extensive consultation to devise plans and policies on their reintegration into the society which is part of Dr Younis’s project in consultation with the Iraqi government and the political parties in the country to find a solution to crisis of ISIS family.
