Head of KDP Foreign Relations Office meets Swedish Foreign Minister in Hanover

KDP FR 05/12/2012 After attending the German Christian Democratic Party conference in Hanover, the Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) Foreign Relations Office Hemin Hawrami met with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Blade.   During the meeting, Mr Hawrami conferred the latest developments in Iraq and highlighted the problems between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Baghdad. Mr Hawrami said the cause of the current crisis is due to a lack of commitment to the constitution by Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki. He emphasised on the Erbil Convention and the Dilja operation while stating that the position of the KDP was another aspect of the meeting to explain its stance on the matter. There were also talks about Syria, regional relations with Turkey and Iraq. Mr Blade expressed his satisfaction and admiration for the developments in the Kurdistan region and said he would like to visit the region again. Mr Hawrami thanked the Swedish Minister on behalf of the KDP and the people of Kurdistan for attempts that led to the recognition of Anfal campaign as 'Genocide' against the Kurdish people in Iraq by the Swedish Parliament.
