Hoshyar Siwaily, Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office Received Mr Plamen Hristov, Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Iraq. 

Mr. Siwaily welcomed the delagation that headed by Mr Plamen Hristov Minister Plenipotentiary Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Iraq and Mr Vasil Vasilev,  Head of Trade and Economic Section of the Embassy in Erbil. He thanked the people and government of Bulgaria for the support during the war of liberation in 2003 and the war against IS in the past four years. The Head of KDP-FRO described the relations between Bulgaria and Kurdistan as historical which go back to the beginning of the sixties of the last century. These ties were further strengthened after the liberation of Iraq in 2003. His Excellency President Barzani, During his Presidency, visited Bulgaria twice, in 2012 and 2017, to strengthen the relations between both sides. The Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister , the Foreign Minister and  deputy Minister of Economy and Trade have also visited Erbil.  At the meeting, the current political developments in the Region were discussed and Mr. Siwaily explained that as KDP, we believe in dialogue to find solutions for all the differences and outstanding issues. Regarding relations between Erbil and Baghdad, the Head of KDP-FRO emphasized the positive and evolving position of the current Federal Government and Prime Minister Adel Abdulmahdi which has led to improvements in the relations. President Barzani’s visit to Baghdad and his meetings with the Prime Minister and the leaders of all the political parties was a clear support for the Prime Minister and a good will message that KRI seeks constructive dialogue. During the meeting Mr Hristov expressed his appreciation for the opportunities available in KRI and outlined his vision and plan to promote and strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region in Bulgaria in the field of economy and investment and the trade. The Charge d’affaires aslo thanked the people and government of Kurdistan Region for sheltering refugees and Internal Displaced People (IDP)s. At the end Mr Siwaily expressed the KDP-FRO readiness to offer support and assistance to the Embassy and the economic section in Erbil to accomplish their mission.
