President Masoud Barzani received the Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi (CHP) delegation.
President Masoud Barzani received the CHP delegation headed by Oğuz Kaan Salıcı, Deputy Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and head of the Foreign Relations Department of the party.
Mr. Oğuz Kaan Salıcı conveyed the greetings of CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to President Barzani and the people of the Kurdistan Region. The delegation emphasized the historical relations between the people of Kurdistan and the Republic of Turkey and discussed historical developments in the region in the past and stated that democracy would be a factor for the continuity of political, social and economical development of the region.
The delegation emphasized that the democratic process and the protection of human rights and respect for cultural differences leads to peace, stronger relations and further achievements. Mr. Kaan Salıcı reiterated the importance of establishing friendly relations among nations and political parties in the Middle East for justice and progress in all aspects of life.
The CHP delegation also mentioned that it's essential for the Kurdistan Region to remain a peaceful path to develop further socioeconomic progress and political stability for the region and Iraq and noted that CHP wanted to develop bilateral relations to serve the interests of both sides.
President Masoud Barzani reiterated that the destiny of the peoples of the region is to live together and the best way for this is through peace, brotherhood, solutions to problems and abandoning the language of denial. Government and political parties are responsible to work together to provide a better and peaceful life for our region and our people.
President Barzani also stated that all parties should learn from past mistakes and work for peace and unity among peoples.
Another discussion was the latest political developments in the region and early elections that are to be held in Iraq.
