Prime Minister Barzani and Iraq’s Parliament Speaker discuss political developments

Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Muhammad Al Halbusi. The meeting was also attended by the Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Ms. Vala Farid and a number of officials.

They discussed the political situation in Iraq in general and latest developments in the Nineveh province in particular. They stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination between the relevant institutions to reconstruct the areas destroyed by the war against ISIS.

They also discussed the situation of the displaced Iraqis who fled ISIS war zones and took refuge in the Kurdistan Region. They stressed the importance of cooperation between the Iraqi government and the international community to help the displaced to return to their places of origin and reconstruct the destroyed areas.

The improvement of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad and efforts to resolve outstanding issues were also discussed in the meeting.
