Chancellor Masrour Barzani meets with Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey

Chancellor Masrour Barzani  had a productive meeting with Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. In their meeting, both discussed at length regional developments and mechanisms to increase bilateral trade. Chancellor Barzani welcomed improved relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

He said the next KRG Cabinet intends to continue the strong partnership with Turkey. They underscored mutual interest in stability in Iraq and the border regions. On Syria, Chancellor Barzani expressed concern about the future of the Kurdish people. He urged Minister Çavuşoğlu to help advance peace for all of the Syrian peoples. On Iraq, both agreed that ISIS remains a shared threat despite its territorial losses.

They also discussed Turkish assistance to Iraq, in particular to areas destroyed during the anti-ISIS campaign, and ways Kurdistan Region can receives a fair share. Chancellor Barzani and Minister Çavuşoğlu agreed to have regular consultations on these important issues and other bilateral challenges.
