President Barzani receives Special Envoy of the U.S. Secretary of State

KDP-FR 22/12/2012 President of the Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani today in Salahuddin received the Special Envoy of the Secretary of State Brett McGurk and his delegation accompanying. In the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the crisis between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). Mr McGurk stressed that the United States supports a dialogue to resolve domestic problems by respecting the constitutional policies and political agreements. He highlighted his meetings with senior Iraqi officials and his government’s wrath to exacerbate the situation in Iraq and its relations. President Barzani noted on the problems between the region and federal governments are due to power and governance, if the government is a partnership, the partnership is not in such a way that we see as fit. Mr Barzani also said that the KRG has sent a letter to the National Alliance and will wait for their answer. “All problems have a solution, but only if there is a desire and a will to solve it. The region isn’t an obstacle to any step to resolve the problems, and should investigate the reasons. They do not accept that recocuring problems in the future”
