Chancellor Masrour Barzani Welcomes US Support for Kurdistan Reform Agenda

Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council Masrour Barzani welcomed US’ commitment to support Kurdistan Region’s reform package which is already underway.

The issue was discussed during a meeting between Barzani and US Consul General Steven Fagin on Wednesday in Erbil, where the pair also reviewed the latest political and security developments in Kurdistan, Iraq, and beyond.

In the meeting Chancellor Barzani welcomed Consul General Fagin’s commitment to continued U.S. support for the next government, in particular with the reform agenda,” according to the readout of the meeting.

They also talked about the developments in the process of forming the new government of Kurdistan Region, for which Masrour Barzani is nominated as the prime minister.

 

Discussing the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, ongoing disputes, and the ties between Kurdistan Region and the United States were also on the agenda.
