Kurdish prominent leader and former President of Kurdistan, Masoud Barzani, visited on Wednesday the Peshmerga forces at the Khazir front to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with the Kurdish fighters.
"It is nothing short of an honor to be among the Peshmerga forces. I visited the Khazir front today to wish the Peshmerga forces and their families a happy and prosperous Eid," Barzani wrote on Twitter.
He valued the sacrifices made by the Peshmerga, and paid tribute to the fallen Kurdish troops who lost their lives during the years-long war on terror.
The Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga troops backed by the US-led coalition forces fought the extremist group of Islamic State (IS) from 2014 to late 2017.
