Turkish FM Meets with Masrour Barzani While in Erbil

Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council, Masrour Barzani, and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met in Erbil on Monday.

Cavusoglu arrived in Erbil earlier the day where he will attend the inauguration of Kurdistan’s new president, Nechirvan Barzani.

Masrour Barzani, who is nominated by the KDP as the next Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region, is expected to discuss a range of issues with the top Turkish diplomat, including future strengthened ties between Erbil and Ankara.

"We reviewed regional developments and common interests, including readiness to expand trade and investment between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and Turkey," Barzani wrote on Twitter.

Over 1,200 officials, religious and political figures from Kurdistan, Iraq, and other countries, are attending the presidential inauguration today.
