Kurdistan President, German Delegation Meet in Erbil

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received on Saturday a German diplomatic delegation headed by Martin Jäger, the State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, discussing several issues.

Jäger stressed on the ties between the Kurdistan Region and Germany and the prolonged efforts to develop security in the region and the methods of facilitating the return of IDPs and Syrian refugees to their places of origin who have fled from the brutality of the Islamic State (IS) since 2014.

He reaffirmed Berlin's support to Erbil and Baghdad's efforts to provide stability in the liberated areas so as to help the civilians return home safely.

President Barzani thanked the German delegation for their visit and pointed out that the Kurdistan Region values the humanitarian and military assistance offered by the international coalition countries, adding that the relations between Erbil and Baghdad have significantly improved.
