The United States has hailed the role of the prominent Kurdish leader and former President of the Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, in improving the relations between Erbil and Baghdad.
The message was conveyed by the new US Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Tueller during a visit to the Kurdistan Region on Saturday where he met with Barzani in Erbil with the presence of Consul General in Erbil Steven Fagin as well.
Tueller praised Barzani's efforts in providing stability and resolving the issues in the region while developing the ties between the Kurdistan Region and the US, on one hand, and between Erbil and Baghdad, on the other hand.
He noted that the improved relations between the federal and regional governments will serve the two sides' interests as well as the security across the country.
