PM-Designate Masrour Barzani Kicks Off Government-Formation Talks

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister-designate Masrour Barzani began the talks over the next cabinet of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Sunday.

For his first meeting, Barzani visited the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) politburo to discuss the details of the cabinet.

He told reporters after the meeting that the share of political parties is already agreed upon, and he is asking for resumes of the ministerial candidates from each faction.

Barzani will visit Sulaymaniyah this week to meet with other parties, including the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Change Movement (Gorran).

He is hopeful about concluding the talks within its legal frame of 30-days.

On 11th June, Masrour Barzani’s candidacy for Kurdistan premiership was approved at the parliament. A day later, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani officially tasked him to begin the formation of his cabinet.
