Kurdistan PM-Designate Meets Socialist Party Leader to Discuss New Cabinet

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister-designate Masrour Barzani met with Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party leader Mohammed Haji Mahmoud on Monday to discuss the formation of the next cabinet.

He reportedly invited the Kurdish party to submit the resume of their candidate for the ministerial post given to the Socialist Democratic Party.

The meeting came after Barzani concluded talks with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), where he made a similar call to accelerate the formation of his cabinet.

Asw previous political agreement has secured the ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs for the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party.

Masrour Barzani, a successful politician known for his decisive leadership in the war against the Islamic State, is now designated to form the new cabinet of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

Following the meeting with PUK, Barzani said the party showed commitment to its agreement with the KDP over the next cabinet shares.
