Masrour Barzani Optimistic about Partnership with Gorran in Next Cabinet

The Prime Minister-designate of Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani met with Change Movement (Gorran) leadership on Monday while in Sulaymaniyah, discussing their political partnership and the formation of the next cabinet.

Barzani kicked off his talks with a meeting with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) earlier the same day. He later discussed the same issue with the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party.

“We hope to conclude the formation of the [new] government before parliament’s recess [1st July],” Barzani told reporters after his meeting with Gorran.

He said he was optimistic about Gorran’s commitment to a previous political deal with the KDP, and its keenness to submit candidate resumes to form the new cabinet on time.

Jalal Jawhar, a leading member of Gorran confirmed that his party was about to finalize the list of candidates for ministerial posts it will receive at the next cabinet. He also noted that Gorran is fully committed to its political agreement with the KDP.
