Masrour Barzani, Coalition Commanders Discuss Security Developments

Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council and the Prime Minister-designate of Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, received on Tuesday a delegation from the US-led Coalition to discuss the latest developments in the battle on terror.

Barzani and the Coalition commanders agreed that the Islamic State (IS) threat remains in Iraq and Syria, and that the international cooperations are needed to address the situation and prevent the re-emergence of the jihadist group.

The top Kurdish security official noted that close military coordination between the Kurdistan Region and Coalition forces were crucial to secure and stabilize the region.

The outgoing commander of Special Operations Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, Patrick Roberson, introduced his successor during the meeting, and encouraged continued cooperation between the Coalition and Peshmerga forces, according to a readout.
