Nechirvan Barzani Meets Recep Tayyip Erdogan

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, congratulated Nechirvan Barzani on his election as the President of Kurdistan Region, and wished him all the success. He hoped that the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government will be formed quickly, and hoped to widen the relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and also expressed his support for the newly initiated discussions between Erbil and Baghdad.

On his side, the President of Kurdistan, Nechirvan Barzani, thanked Mr. Erdogan and stated that he regards the relations with Turkey as important, and hopes to strengthen the relations even further especially in economy and trade between Iraq, Kurdistan Region with Turkey.

In the meeting which was held in Istanbul, both sides discussed political and security situation of the wider region, the possibilities of resurgence of Daesh. And, the liberated areas, the return of refugees and displaces persons and the rebuilding of devastated areas with some other topics were also discussed.
