PM-Designate Barzani Meets with Turkmen, Christian Parties to Discuss KRG Cabinet

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister-designate Masrour Barzani held a series of meetings on Saturday with Turkmen and Christian political parties to invite them to the next cabinet of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

Barzani begin his tour meeting with a coalition of Turkmen parties, followed by the Turkmen Front.

Aidin Marouf, the leader of the Turkmen Front, told BasNews after the meeting that they will have the minister of state for minority affairs at the next cabinet led by Masrour Barzani.

The delegation later held separate meetings with the Christian parties, including the National Unity Alliance, Assyrian Democratic Movement, and the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council.

Barzani, who was tasked to form the cabinet on 12 June, has 30 days to conclude the talks and submit the cabinet structure to the parliament.

BasNews has learned that the PM-designate is planning to send his cabinet’s line-up to the legislative before the end of June as the parliament’s summer recess will begin on 1st July.
